• 1800s Photo Album with 32 CDVs, Cabinet Cards, Portraits

  • $100
Submitted for your consideration is a 100+ year old deluxe family photo album comprising of over thirty-two Photos (32); sixteen CDVs (16), eleven Cabinet Cards (11), two Trilby Photos (2), two Portraits (2) and a Photo (1). It's a mish-mash, representing mostly New England states (Mass, Vt and NH), and some from Albion NY, Springfield OH and NYC.

The album is 11" x 9" x 3". Covering is olive-colored fabric cloth with mustard/yellow print designs. It has what appears to be a large brass decorative plate in the top left corner, adorned by flowers and three crescent moons/stars tandems. This velvet-like fabric cloth cover goes over both boards and the spine in one continuous piece. A bit of rubbing at the corners, yet cloth remains fully intact. There is a brass buckle and clasp in the center that works, but it appears two support latches, one from each side, are gone(?). This album holds sixty (62) photos, mostly Cabinet Card sized (including a five larger portraits, and five CDV slots). There are some tears in the Photo slots, but all appear to be still serviceable. All "pages" in this album are very thick and intact, most holding four (4) photos; two (2) per side.

Many are ID'd in hand on the Reverse, mostly in pencil. In fact, one Cabinet Card from thee Heath Studio on Main Street in Plymouth NH is dated "June 1, 1870". This card depicts two young sisters who names and ages, also provided on reverse, are Alice and Ethel. Alice is 4 years, 9 months and Ethel is 2 years, 8 months. I would venture the elder woman, Mrs Mary Walker according to reverse, was their grandmother. Can't swear to it, but there's a close resemblance in facial features, and both cards were done at same studio in Plymouth NH. But there are many family notations on the backs of these CDVs and Cabinet Cards; this one's aunt, that one's grandmother, etc, etc. Again, it's a family album.

Condition of these vintage photos varies. Some are Excellent, and some reflect a fair amount of dirt/smudges/foxing. One has a small pinhole in the very bottom edge. No shortage of nicks and bumps. One Cabinet Card is a little scraped up, but it's still a great shot of what appears to be Grandma and Grandpa Duplain sitting on the porch with a smiling grandson on grandpa's knee ~ "Jos Duplain with one of the boys". Again, many are in Excellent Condition. None are trashed.

Plenty of more PICS ~ Furnished upon Request!

Price is FIRM @ $100.00 - Cash Only. Buyer to pick up in Concord NH. Thank you.
